Brooklyn - 1 year and cake smash session {Edmonton Baby Photographer}

Brooklyn and her lovely parents came by last week for some cake smashing fun. This gorgeous girl didn't need any help with her cupcake. I had way too much fun with this cutie!

March

I say this every month, but I can't believe that March has come and gone already and Coen is 5 months old! It's finally spring, although there's still way too much snow outside. Bring on the puddles and melting, i'm ready for spring!
So at 5 months:

- He weighs 15lbs 8oz
- He has only been waking once in the night to feed, and usually that is after 8-10 hours of solid sleep
- He goes to bed at 6pm, which gives us all evening to get things done, although makes it difficult to go out for dinner with the little guy
- He is still a cat napper (30-45min), although on a few rare occasions he has shocked me with a 1.5-2hr nap
- He is officially sleeping unswaddled, in a sleep sac now
- He has increased his sound vocabulary, and especially likes to make grunting noises right now
- He can sit up perfectly ... with support
- He loves to stand up with support as well
- He loves bouncing in his jolly jumper, but is still too short for his exersaucer
- He is still in 3-6 month outfits and size 2 diapers
- He now grabs at toys and especially likes to grab plastic loops and try to put them in his mouth
- He constantly has something in his mouth, usually his fist or fingers, but if there is a toy near by he will always try that as well.

Miss Mya - 1 year cake smash {Edmonton baby photographer}

I had such a fun session with Miss Mya a couple weeks ago. It's so hard to believe that it was a year ago that I did her newborn photos, take a peek here to see how much she has grown. It always amazes me how much these little ones change in a year, and I love being a part of such a special time. Here's a few of my favs of this gorgeous little girl! Oh and I should mention, she gave Coen a kiss before leaving without any encouragement from her mom or me! Seriously the sweetest little girl ever  ❤

February

It doesn't seem fair that another month has passed. February is too short of a month so I feel like i'm not ready to call Coen 4 months old yet. But I suppose there's not a whole lot I can do about it ... he's 4 months old! Sooooo as of his 4th month:

- He weighs 15lbs and is 24.25 in long
- He slept 10 hours!! But only for 3 nights, most other nights ranged from 5-6 hours, which I suppose I can't complain about. He actually slept 12 hours 1 night, but that was the night after he had his 4 month immunizations so I don't think it counts :)
- He loves the sound of his voice, as do I
- He has developed what I call his "crazy cry", no more soft little newborn cry ... it's slightly louder and shrieky at times
- He has way more head control, much less of a bobble head these days
- He seems pretty close to rolling over from back to tummy, he gets soooo close
- His 3 month clothes are all of a sudden way too small ... we have moved on to 3-6 month outfits!
- He has moved on to size 2 diapers
- He is a drool machine and has been trying desperately to fit his entire fist in his mouth, he occasionally will just suck on his index and middle finger instead of the entire fist
- He loves grabbing his toys on his playmat
- He goes to bed at 6-7pm
- He is officially sleeping in his own room now at night

 

Aubrey 12 days old

I had such a lovely time photographing this gorgeous girl last week! Aubrey is the first little lady i've photographed since I had my little guy in October and I couldn't have asked for a better model. Special thanks to her Mom for being so awesome about everything ... and especially for all her hands on assistance ;) Here's a few of my favs of Aubrey. 

January

Well the first month of 2013 has come and gone just like that. I'm a little late posting this seeing as how it's already halfway through February, but better late than never!

So Coen's 3rd month has been exciting:
- He turned 3 months old on January 30th
- He weighs 13lbs 13oz and is 23.25 inches long
- He has now rolled from his tummy to his back a handful of times
- He slept in his crib for the very first time and is now consistently napping in it during the day
- He's less fussy in the evenings, and has started going to bed around 8-9 pm instead of 10-11pm
- He was sleeping 6-7 hours at night, until his 12 week growth spurt, that lasted what seemed like a lifetime, but was really only about 8 days. Up every 2-3 hours at night during those LONG 8 days :)
- He has discovered his hands and loves putting them in his mouth
- His 0-3 month outfits are pretty tight these days, but i'm still squeezing him into some of them
- We went for our first stroller run and first trip to the dog park with the whole family
- He is still all smiles and I can't get enough of them :)

December

Hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone already, along with the year 2012! This Christmas was a very special one at our house. We celebrated Coen's first Christmas, and our first holiday season as a family of 3 (or 5 when we include the pooches). It's so much more fun celebrating with a kidlet and I can only imagine that it gets better every year.

As some of you know, I attempted to do a weekly photo project last year, but only made it to week 39 (with many weeks missing). I truly admire people that are able to accomplish and complete photo a day projects! I did however start another photo project when Coen was born, that I know some people have been following. Not a daily 365 or weekly project 52, but somewhere in between :) Feel free to check it out here.

I've had a number of inquiries about when I plan to start doing photo sessions for OTHER people besides Coen :). I am accepting a very limited number of sessions starting in March, so please feel free to send me an email and i'll can see what I can do.

So here is my monthly update of our little man:
He turned 2 months old on Dec. 30th.
Weighs 11lbs 5oz, which is apparently smack dab in the middle of the 50th percentile.
Is 21.5 inches long, which is only the 10th percentile, no wonder 3 month pants are HUGE on him!
He smiles at us all the time, which seriously melts my heart.
He gives mom 4-5 hours of uninterrupted sleep... most nights.
He is making all kinds of adorable baby sounds.
He loves lying on his playmat and staring at the world around him.
He has outgrown all his newborn outfits and is now sporting 3 month outfits, although he definately swims in some of them.
